Trip Advisor 2016 Certificate of Excellence awarded to King’s Lynn Minster

We are delighted to announce that King’s Lynn Minster has been awarded a TripAdvisor 2016 Certifcate of Excellence.

Certificate of Excellence recipients include attractions located all over the world that have continually delivered a high quality experience to travellers.

Canon Chris Ivory, said, “We are so pleased to have received this award.
People visit the Minster for many reasons: some to admire the architecture dating back over 900 years, others to see the fine mediaeval woodwork and brasses, others to find peace and a sense of continuity with all those who have been here before us, but whatever the reason people come, they seem to leave with more than they expected from this fascinating place.

Our hope is that people will feel at home here, enjoy whatever they find and leave with a sense of peace.”

The Certificate of Excellence accounts for the quality, quantity and recency of reviews submitted by travellers on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period.

To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor ‘bubble-rating’ of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.

Christmas Fayre 2016

On Saturday 27th November we held our second Christmas Fayre here in the Minster. It was lovely to see so many stall holders return from last year as well as those new to the Minster.

The Fayre was opened by The Rt Revd Jonathan Meyrick, Bishop of Lynn and there were lots of beautiful items available to buy, made by local crafters, artists, bakers etc.

Our ever popular cafe was bustling and we had many visitors throughout the day.

The event raised over £1,200 for Minster funds - a fabulous amount, our thanks go to everyone who helped make the day such a success.

Heritage Sunday 2016 - what a treat - again!

Heritage Sunday this year saw almost 1,500 visitors come to the Minster to share in our wonderful building.

Our Tower Tours were as popular as ever, the cafe was packed to overflowing all afternoon and the Minster Shop was also open to the public.

Over £850 was raised for Minster funds - thank you to everyone who helped out and everyone who came and enjoyed the day.

Laura's a Priest!

On Saturday 4th July 2015 we were delighted to join our Curate the Revd Laura Baker with her friends and family as she was Ordained Priest at Norwich Cathedral.

Laura presided at her first Eucharist on Sunday 5th July in the Minster and afterwards the congregation presented her with a cloak and cheque to mark this very special occassion.

Laura writes:

Thank you so much to you all for your love and support last weekend when I was ordained priest and celebrated my first Eucharist.  Thank you so much for the beautiful cloak and cheque that you all so kindly gave me as an ordination present, I’m so grateful.  Also, a special thank you to all who organised the trip to the Cathedral and the refreshments.  It was a truly wonderful weekend, Laura.

The Minster Organ

In the past 3 years 1,100 pipes have been installed to complete the job started in 1895 and to recover some of the sounds of 1754.  The result is fantastic!

On Saturday 23rd May 2015, we were delighted to welcome over 200 people to the Minster to hear Paul Hale (organ desgner and virtuoso performer) deliver an organ extravaganza to celebrate this amazing instrument.
