It is one of the crosses made by a carpenter in Lampedusa from the wood of shipwrecked boats that were carrying refugees from Eritrea and Somalia. Pope Francis carried one at a memorial Mass for those who died. We are having the cross with a display about the refugee crisis in the week leading up the Churches Together talk on refugees by the CEO of Refugee Council on Wednesday 8th March at 7pm at London Road Methodist Church.
The cross will also be at the 12.30pm Eucharist on the 7th March when prayers will be said for refugees.

The Beatitudes are the sayings of Jesus which begin with ‘blessed are the poor’ and they encapsulate the teachings and life of Jesus. It’s a chance to think and discuss the values Jesus had and how they affect our own lives. The course will run on Tuesday evenings at 8pm in the vicarage and on Thursday afternoons at 2pm in North Lynn Methodist Church. The first session is Tuesday 7th March and Thursday 9th March. Everybody is welcome.
